As an attorney and nationally known financial advisor, Katherine is uniquely qualified to work with doctors and their numerous, complicated financial issues.
Katherine grew up in a medical family. “I observed my own parents moving from being extremely comfortable financially to almost bankrupt, after my parents made a few bad financial choices,” Katherine said.
“The first thing I learned,” she explained, “Was no matter how educated you are, we all need help with issues outside our area of expertise.” The second thing: “I wanted to make sure other doctors and their families, didn’t suffer the way mine did when the bottom fell out of our finances.”
Katherine uses her legal background to address issues of concern to many doctors: how to protect their assets from frivolous suits and how to reduce their taxes now, during retirement and for their heirs.
“The statistic I am proudest of is our referral rate,” Katherine explained. “Last year over 90% of our new clients came as referrals from our existing clients. We know that doctors don’t refer their colleagues to just anyone, so we are very grateful for their vote of confidence and the trust they have placed in us.”
A Certified Financial Planner®, Katherine has written three books and almost 100 Published articles. She has received the 5 Star Professional Wealth Manager Award (1) three times!
In 1989 Katherine became Vice President and Officer of the IDS Mutual Fund Group, where she was legal counsel to the independent directors, including former POTUS President Gerald Ford. Later she created two ethics programs for American Express. She has also served on the CFP® Board of Ethics.
Some of the top financial firms in the country have engaged Katherine to help their advisors. That list includes: American Express, ING/Voya, Merrill Lynch, H&R Block, Financial Planning Association, Northwestern Mutual, Charles Schwab, State Farm, LPL, John Hancock and others.
Katherine and her husband/business partner, Peter, have three adult children with whom she loves to spend time. Katherine is also dedicated to a healthy lifestyle and enjoys activities such as kickboxing and kettlebells to stay in shape.
